Today, the word can be used on any scale – from an individual who chooses their personal entertainment from among a huge selection of pre-recorded products, to banquets adapted for two, to performances intended for thousands and even for a global audience. It is sometimes abbreviated ‘entmt’ on fliers and in industry news publications where space is at a premium.
